There are various processes which few tantalum compounds can be prepared, containing hydrides. In this work, the synthesis of few phases of tantalum hydrides (Ta-hydrides) is reported utilizing the mechanical alloying method. This type of hydride was formed “in situ” all the while mechanical grinding process. During this process hydrogenated solvent dissociates into hydrogen atoms that react accompanying tantalum particles. Metallic Ta accompanying a purity of 99.8% was used to obtain their equivalent hydrides. The tantalum hydrogenated phases were combined with a spex-type high-strength ball mill. With this scheme, relatively short opportunities were programmed from 5 to 20 h. In addition to the hydrides, various oxides were got during the grinding process, which were formed as a function of the grinding time. To see the phases formed, description techniques to a degree DRX and SEM were used. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) was another method used for their study. With the result of X-ray diffraction, tantalum hydrides (Ta2H and TaH0.5) were identified subsequently 20 h of milling. Some hydrogenated solvent such as methanol maybe used as a beginning of hydrogen to form “in situ” hydrides in this case of tantalum.
