Microbiome study suggests marine nematodes are not picky eaters
The ocean floors are actually crawling with nematode worm worms. A square measure of sediment will contain innumerable worms from many species.
In such tight quarters, however, will everybody get enough to eat? University of the American state, Riverside researchers investigated whether or not microbiomes — microbic communities that square measure related to larger hosts — may play a job. Since gut microbes facilitate food breakdown, maybe completely different species have evolved different microbiomes to cut back competition and promote co-existence. [1]
The complete mitochondrial genomes of the nematode-trapping fungus Arthrobotrys oligospora
Arthrobotrys oligospora may be a potential candidate of biocontrol agents against plant and animal parasitic nematodes. during this study, the entire mitochondrial ordering of A.oligospora was sequenced. This mitogenome may be a circular molecule of one hundred sixty,613 bp in length. cistron annotation showed that forty-four purported protein-coding genes and twenty-four tRNAs, all settled on constant strand. The organic process relationships between A. oligospora and different representative ascomycetes were unconcealed supported sequences at the fourteen concatenated mitochondrial protein-coding genes. Screening of carrot cultivars against root-knot nematode Meloidogyne incognita
To evaluate the thirteen carrot cultivars against Meloidogyne incognita underneath inexperienced house conditions; totally different levels of status were ascertained all told the examined cultivars. vascular plant Golden Rosy was immune to nematode worm attack with an occasional root gall index (1.2) whereas vascular plant Kamini was found extremely vulnerable showing the best root gall index (5.0). Similarly, the cultivars Rose Red, Noorie, Lali, Sindhuri, and choice eighty were susceptible; the cultivars Pearl Red, Super Red, Surbhi, and Kamboj were moderately vulnerable and also the cultivars Desi Red and Red King were found moderately resistant against the nematode worm injury. The Effect of the Nematode Trapping Fungus Duddingtonia flagrans Against Gastrointestinal Nematodes of Exotic Ruminant Hoofstock at Disney’s(R) the Animal Kingdom Lodge
Gastrointestinal nematodes (GIN) will severely Associate in Nursing effect on} the performance of ruminant animals and should result in an animal’s death in an exceedingly severe, untreated infection. Zoological parks, that have used anthelmintic medication for treatment of GIN, area unit currently seeing proof of drug-resistant parasites (Garretson et al., 2009). Duddingtonia flagrans, a nematophagous flora, has shown a discount in larvae of cocultures of exotic ruminants through feed administration at Disney’s® Animalia Lodge (DAKL) and has potential to biologically management forage larvae (Terry, 2013). This study evaluated the effectiveness of Duddingtonia flagrans, administered to exotic ruminant hoofstock at a daily dose of thirty,000 chlamydospores per kilo of BW with customary feed, on reducing faecal egg count (FEC), larval development and survival in excreta and level of forage larvae convenience for Dec, 2015 – May, 2016 (peak larvae season) at DAKL. Sustainable Management of Root-Knot Nematode Meloidogyne incognita through Organic Amendment on Solanum lycopersicum L.
Aims: to judge the nematicidal potential of untamed spinach powder together with recent cut leaves of various plants viz., Indian shrub, white thistle, Ivy gourd, Trailing eclipta, Wild eggplant and Black pigweed against Meloidogyne incognita on plant growth characters of tomato cv. K-21.
Place and period of Study: A greenhouse pot experiment was administered within the Department of biological science, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh.
Methodology: a combination of soil and organic manure was ready within the magnitude relation 3:1. The pots were treated with recent cut leaves of various plants viz., Indian shrub, white thistle, Ivy gourd, Trailing eclipta, Wild eggplant, and Black pigweed applied fifty g of recent cut leaves of plants were applied combined with seed powder ten g of seed powder of Black nightshade”.
